Romans 8:29-30
“For those God foreknew he also predestined to be
conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers
and sisters. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also
justified; those he justified, he also glorified.”
Many people
don’t truly get the meaning of this verse, and thus, it is the subject of much
controversy in the church. Some people use this to say God has favoritism or
that He picks and chooses people that He wants so you can never know whether
you have a chance at salvation or not. If you’re not picked, you’re just not
picked…But take a look at what the scripture is really saying. It’s not saying
that God picks and chooses people. In fact, the Bible says that God desires for
everyone to be saved. However, He gives us free will and is well aware that not
everyone will make that choice. But for those He knew would (in His
omniscience), He has a plan! A plan for you to prosper in this life as He uses
you to accomplish His will. Not only will you be justified in this life, but
you will be glorified in the next. And if God glorifies and justifies you, no
one can take that away ;-)
