1 Corinthians 9:24-27

“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.”

This past weekend, I found myself so frustrated! I had so many things to do for classes this week and I never have time on the weekends because of church. I have a quiz coming, I have a recording due with interviewing techniques, I had to complete a diagnostic formulation, all of this atop the normal 500 page readings for the week -_-. Even with taking Monday off to catch up, still seems like it isn’t enough. I was so tired of never getting ahead because I always had stuff to do. So, I just thought, what the heck have I gotten myself into for the next 4-5 years??

It’s easy to become discouraged when we see so many different things in front of us, and this is true not only of our regular lives but our spiritual ones as well. The devil always does his best to overwhelm us with his trials, temptations, and never-ending words of discouragement. But we have to keep our eyes on the prize and keep moving! Remember that in our weaknesses, He is strong, and that we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us! God’s not going to reward someone who starts and doesn’t finish, nor will society. But if we keep pressing forward, we will attain our prize at the end, whether it is a great career, a comfortable living, a loving family, or a crown of life… :-)
